We are staying right on Hollywood Boulevard and it's a crazy place. Our hostel is the only place on the whole street with a proper door, which would probably look more appropriate on a house in the suburbs. The street is busy all day and night with tourists visiting the Chinese Mann theatre (where the film premiers are) just across the road and the Kodak theatre (where the award ceremonies are held). We are right on the walk of fame, where actors have their name on a star on the street and they only have to pay 25,000 for the privilege. There are street performers all day who play drums on empty plastic tubs and break dancers, and Hip hop dudes selling their music. People dress up as Marylin Monroe, Spiderman and characters from Harry potter. So it's never boring on the Hollywood Boulevard. We went on a sight seeing tour the first day and saw paramount studios and capital records and a huge outdoor theatre they have. We went up into the Hollywood hills to get a closer look at the Hollywood sign. Then we saw the stars homes, including Paris Hilton (which I thought wasn't that nice), Halle Berry, The Osbournes, Mariah Carey, Rod Stewart the Playboy mansion and tonnes more. Some of them were so big, one of them cost 185 million dollars, would of liked to look around that one. We went to Universal Studios yesterday, where Chris made his Hollywood acting debut. He got pulled into participating in one of the shows that demonstrates how the sound is added to the films. He had to be the voice for the film King Kong, he had numerous speaking parts and one of which was Tinkerbell!! Very funny, poor Chris! The Jurassic park ride was the best it was a water ride where you got completely soaked. The special affects for the Terminator 2 3D show was good too. We saw loads of cool stunts in the Waterworld show, and lots of the actors in that were also in The OC, Ugly Betty and other Tv shows. We nearly saw a star at the Virgin Mega store. Billy Bob Thornton was supposed to be doing a book signing but he was late and we didn't have any more time to wait for him, so close to seeing a star!! Today we went to Venice beach and Santa Monica, which is also crazy, loads of odd bods and very hippyish, a bit like Camden but with a beach. People skate and cycle along the beach (just like in the films). We saw somebody shooting a music video, didn't know who he was though. The food here is so big, they give you huge portions, Chris has been loving it, Pancakes for breakfast, hot dogs etc. Yesterday we saw a premier for the film Hot Rod, we saw Pedro from Napolean Dynamite and Isla Fisher (the star of the film). Although the film doesn't look that good it was nice to catch a premier. That's the good thing abut Hollywood, if you want to see the stars you do get the chance. We missed Matt Damon the day before getting his 'Star' put on the walk of fame. Hollywood is definitely tacky but all good fun. Nearly home now, so we will be seeing you all very soon, our amazing adventure has finally ended.
