Travelled overnight from SFO to Amsterdam where we had a three hour layover. Just before we boarded at SFO bumped in to Brittany (one of Sammi's school friends) and she was on the same flight as us but then heading to Romania while we went to UK.
At Schipol looked through the museum at the airport at some wonderful paintings and products imported by the Dutch East India Company. Then found the"Giant Chuppa Chups Tree" and had a brief talk with Brittany.
Flight to UK on a 737 was quick as Wellington to Christchurch. We were throught customs in very short order then off to Hertz and in the car. Followed Googled route directions relatively easily and got to Salisbury before our check-in deadline.
However, we had to change guest houses as Websters had had the shower in our room pulled off the wall by the previous guests. They arranged for a slightly better one (Rokeby) at their extra cost.
Got settled in and went out around the town to stretch and have a "pub dinner" (two pies - Chicken & Mushroom and Steak & Kidney - with three ved and spuds). Tried a local bitter but found it warm and a bit flat to what we are used to. Then went to Tesco's to get a few groceries for in the car over the next few days.
Tomorrow the Cathedral, Old Sarum, Stonehenge then on to Exeter.
