We spent Sunday on a bus led shopping tour. The bargains were amazing! Dad managed to get himself a Van Heusen suit for under $100! We were exhausted though because the shops were spread out into separate buildings. Not much more to tell you about Sunday.
Monday was the 4th of July. You couldn't go anywhere without someone saying " happy 4 th!" it was a little like the excitement of new years eve. We had to do some laundry so lynette and I headed over to the other side of the city by subway with a suitcase full of dirty clothes - not fun on a public holiday. The subway was crowded with red sox fans heading out to the ball game. We unfortunately had bought 3 hats got $10 in new York and mum, Lynette and I ate always being heckled for supporting the hankies in Boston. We have gotten to the point where we take them off unless it is really sunny.
We got to the Charles street laundry to find it closed, of course, so we had to catch the subway to the other side of Boston to the other laundromat. We spent a good hour and a half found the boring washing while dad and mum were recovering from the long day of shopping the day before.
When we got back, we went out to a salad bar and have lunch. Then mum, Lynette and I set off on the freedom trail tour- basically we meet in Boston common and are taken on a walking tour with a guide through the city and all of the historic sites including the grave of Paul Revere. It was excellent and finished up in fenuell hall on the wharf. Where we found the Cheers Pub! So the three of us had a cool drink before exploring the markets and heading home by cab.
When we got home dad radio for some dinner so we took the concierges advice and caught a cab to Charlies a burger and steak type pub restaurant. Very nice! Lynette and mum enjoyed some cocktails and then wine. The fireworks were on at the river so Lynette and I ditched our parents and went off in search of the fun.
We merged with the crowd and ended up on the bridge over liking the water- an excellent spot. We watched amazing fireworks for 30 minutes non stop! It was great! Then we walked our way home with the huge crowd.
Tomorrow is our last full day in Boston so it will no doubt be a big one!
