Today... We woke up stiff and sore from our bike ride. Spent a fair amount of time looking for some oatmeal for breakfast-Lynette was fed up with bacon and eggs! There was none to be found. The streets were filling up with crowds of outlandishly dressed couples ready for the gay pride parade.
We were expecting entertainment, but the parade was more political and a demonstration of the way in which San Francisco supports gay rights. We were often asked where we were from and the reply was, "Wow! That's a long way to come for the parade!"
Oh well we obviously pull off a couple OK.
We watched the parade for a couple of hours and have up after that I think it eventually finished sometime in the afternoon.
Before we left the hotel this morning, we purchased tickets to go to the gallery to see the Picasso exhibition that was visiting from Paris. We roamed around for about an hour and looked at all of the pieces, sadly I was uninspired. Not like me in an art gallery.
After the gallery, we set off on a bus to the other side of town to ride in a cable car down the steepest street in San Francisco- a bit tartly and a bit scary-however, beautiful views of the bay and Alcatraz. We ended up at the wharf again to do some last minute souvenir shopping and enjoy an excellent steak for dinner.
We are heading out early in the morning to fly to New York- 6hrs. Will blog again soon.
Fair well San Fran!
