ledt for the harbour aboard a cycle rickshaw,10 minute later after relieving the chariot race drom ben hur aboarded the good ship franz ,went with edgar adventures, set sail for Tequile island, obviosly peru does not have maritime regulations as our captain had a seista and we got a shot of steering the boat,he only awake when he heard us plotting a course for bolivia and taking on the bolivian navy,in true noal coward traditions he recovered his composure and landed us on Taquille island, a 2 km walk later arrived at the main plaza,we were happy to support the local cooperative craft dhop, fixed prices, but overall not impressed by the island, terraces that once grew crops were neglected, only dheep were grazing which to a ne man accostemed to allpaccas came as a bit of light relief, it looked like a peruvian brigadoon as alll locals were in their local dress being particulary addappt at doodging work
bonus for OGL was that all restaurants offered the same meal, quinola soup, trout or omelette with coca tea for 15 soles and that alll restaurants ere part of the same cooperative
this island appears to have the most restaurants per head of population and has totally sold out, its 500 steps down to the harbour where captain juan slips anchor redidtd the temptation for glory against bolivia and sets sail for Amamnti island 50 minutes a way
here we were to be hosted in pairs with a local family for the night,
duly matched up presently surprised with the standard of accomodation and western toilet ,islanders working the land, crops in the field, welcome cup of coca tea, dinner of quinoña soup and pata before been taking to the village hall for a display of local dancing hidt wearing a poncho, pretty standard tourist fare but the bonus was going outside and watching the dtard ,amazing clarity, note to peru tourist mininidter, ditch the tourist crap and open up an observatory, no light polution
