Safely arrived with Simon, this is the first time we have seen his house it is super - just 5 minutes from the seaside between Brighton Beach and St Kilda.

We spent the first couple of day just relaxing and visiting Melbourne centre. they have a free tram system which circles the city. Melbourne is very big on markets and on the first day we broke our journey into the city to go to Piran market which is the most fabulous display of fresh fruit, vegetables, meat. fish and deli - wonderful.

My wow of the trip so far was completely unexpected. Si took us into Fed Square to see the opening of day 13 on the Advent calendar. It was the most magical piece of street theatre I have ever seen. Two female clowns suspended in the air against the backdrop of the calender on the side of a building. Ananimation was projected onto the building and the clowns interacted with the characters in the film. It was a Christmas theme but secular - a sort of parable about gluttony and consumerism. I was spellbound!

Simon's party was on the Saturday and the house was full of people coming and going
