August 19th (Wednesday) - Day 170 - Nadi
...We arrived in Nadi about 4. We found the guy picking us up and then had to wait ages as he was picking other people up to. One of which went to a travel shop to sort out what he was doing. We had not booked anything either and were worried when we were told by reception that the travel desk in the hostel was shut until the next day. We hung around looking at leaflets and the lady who ran the desk saw us and was kind enough to go through some stuff with us and book it all up. Our room was not what we expected. It said 4 bed dorm when we booked it but what that meant was a 4 bed cubicle in a 34 bed dorm. We knew there and then we weren't getting much sleep that night. We went to grab some dinner outside by the bar and were treated to a traditional Fijian dance group. It went on for ages and was really cool to watch. Later that evening, slightly drunk we jumped in a hammock and chilled out for an hour or so. We went off to bed and managed to get to sleep straight away it was almost too quiet. As we expected at 3am this guy came crashing into our cubicle with a drunk local girl in tow. She tried to turn the light on above my bed and not really knowing what it was pushed her away quite hard. She then fell into the lockers and continued making loads of noise. They both jumped in the same bed and I thought it was the end of it. 5 minutes later they were at it like rabbits and there's not a lot you can do in that situation. When it was all over they both went to sleep but this guy turned out to be the world's loudest snorer. I am sure people in England heard him. Sarah and I moved bed as far away from him as we could but it was still really loud and I couldn't sleep. Then at 6am, still wide awake an employee came in I guess to do a random spot check and had a go at us for not being in our allocated bed and that we would have to pay for the extra beds that morning. Not taking that I went out to reception and argued with him stating the reason why we moved. He understood and we didn't have to pay in the end, but we didn't find that out until we checked out.
