Last day in Amsterdam...
We ended the city by going back to another museum, the van gogh museum, which had like 4 floors of his stuff along with some contemporaries of his. then it was on to another train (this one was nonstop, which erases some chance for error on our part) straight to Paris
When we got to the station in France we attempted to find a place to get Metro tickets, at one point we could see them on the level above, got on an elevator that seemed to be pointed in the right direction, and somehow passed over the tickets and onto another floor...
We got to France a couple trains later and got to the hotel following the instructions emailed from the manager which included the instructions: walk along the rue clar while getting in touch with the flower markets. We had dinner at a little outdoor cafe, tiff ordered duck and the waiter brought it out and quaked at us. heres something we have learned in europe...its impossible to ever get the bill and then when you finally flag someone down they look at you like your an alien! even after we got it, it was another 20 mins of trying to decipher whether the tip was already included or not...this involved the pocket translator which the older couple at the table next to us found hilarious. we're just here for the entertainment really = )
And that wasnt the end of the confusion...we got back to the room and none of the lights would turn on...you had to slide your door key into a little slot to get any power! ok....and then we found out (a little too late) that there wasnt any toilet paper....is that a france thing? are you supposed to bring your own? do we have tissues somewhere??
then we ran over to the eiffel tower and got there about 10:30...too late to go to the top but we went to the next highest level...after getting trampled by a huge italian tour group (scuzi, scuzi, scuzi) we got to the second level and it was amazing! and then of course, got some dessert on the way home...gotta love europe if nothing else for the desserts!
