Day 2 - Hollywood.
We arrived yesterday evening, flights ran relatively smoothly, changed at Newark and just about made our connection (by 10mins!) to Los Angeles. It was dark when we got to our hostel (sunsets around 8pm) so all we did was go out onto Hollywood Bouleard (literally around the corner from the hostel) and grabbed a bite to eat and slept.
We had an early start this morning and set off to explore Hollywood! As soon as we leave the hostel, we are on the Hollywood walk of fame (Hollywood Boulevard) and happened to stumble across the HOLLYWOOD sign in the background (photo opportunity!!). The scale of Los Angeles is unbelieveable, streets, cars and houses are massive! We took a small venture onto Sunset Boulevard, but after comparing the distance we had walked over half an hour to the map it was clearly out of our depth for the day. So instead we returned to the walk of fame, found the start and walked the whole stretch... taking lots of photos of course :).
The hostel runs activities throughout the day, so we signed on for a hike to the Runyon Canyon Park. The hike wasn't too strenuous, and gave us amazing views of Los Angeles. The park was fairly busy with dog walkers and joggers. Overall a good hike, and we met some other travellers.
Tomorrow we plan to do Universal studios which should take up the whole day. Then we change hotels for the night to begin the Trek America tour on Friday morning.
Ps. ignore the photo... I couldn't find one for Hollywood in the library and have not uploaded any photos yet!
