Ahh, your blog was so fun to read! I want more:) Well Derick and I made it home safely, it is so weird to not have you here, I drove by your house today and was a little sad:( But the 10 weeks will fly by so fast and you are going to have such an amazing time. I miss you and think about you all the time, can't wait for the next blog! Love ya! -Rhea
p.s. I think Dio misses you too!

I didn't think it would be that green, either! It looks like a beautiful city. Those kids are lucky to have you, even if you do forget to ask essential questions! But, as you found out, there's no need to worry. Children love to help the adults out. They do it for me all the time! It sounds like you've already made some great connections with the people there. Hope you'll be able to post photos of the adults you're working with. I've already got mental pictures of Dr. Rick, Monji, and Ashenafi! I love reading about your adventures!

Since I have a phone jack in my dorm room, I decided to get a phone and a calling card so I can call you!!! Dad is going to hook me up with a calling card and then give me the phone I used to have my room at his place. So hopefully within in a week or so I'll have that. Yay!!!
Today was my first day of Track practice (well last Wednesday we had a timed mile, but today was the first workout). My legs are dead but it felt really good to RUN again, so I'm happy.
Every once in awhile I just think, 'wow, my sister is in Ethiopia right now.' Its a really strange feeling that I can't adequately describe. I'll talk to you later though. Love ya!

Wow! You've done so much in such a short period of time. At this pace, you will have experienced more in 10 weeks than most people do in a lifetime. I am so proud of you and I LOVE YOU!

By the time you read this you will be in Ethiopia. I just want you to know how excited I am for you to be taking this great adventure and how proud I am of you for doing something that will change the lives of those little kids!!! It takes a very strong and great person to do what you are doing!!! Mother Teresa said...We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop. Just think about all of those drops you are filling!! Can't wait to read about your adventures.
Miss you

Nicole freaking rocks! I am sad we have to share her with Ethiopia right now, but I know she's out there changing lives, or at least putting smiles on faces.

We wait with great anticipation to hear of your adventure. I am sending you off with all of my love and words of wisdom from Eleanor Roosevelt's "You Learn by Living".
HOPE Surely, in the light of history, it is more intelligent to hope rather than to fear, to try rather than not to try. For one thing we know beyond all doubt: Nothing has ever been achieved by the person who says, `It can't be done.'
COURAGE Courage is more exhilarating than fear and in the long run it is easier. We do not have to become heroes overnight. Just a step at a time, meeting each thing that comes up, seeing it is not as dreadful as it appeared, discovering we have the strength to stare it down.
Eleanor Roosevelt, You Learn By Living (1960)

I just wanted to be one of (maybe the?) first persons to leave you a message!! Hahaha, you're sitting in my living room right now, but know that I've very proud of you & wish the best for my Buckwheat.
Have a tre-fabu trip, don't be too nervous or scared, go with the flow, and absorb anything & everything you can. Well, except maybe poisonous snake venom or red hot lava, that is.
