I'm not quite sure that 'cultural encounters' is how anybody would describe me sat in my room, cat adorned bed linen in tow, typing away and being very surprised that Buckingham Palace doesn't have a huge dome. I always thought it did.
Anyway, it's a full...wait a minute...71 days until my trip starts so I'm doing some planning. Have just been reviewing some of the hostels which I am going to be staying at in NZ. Some of the previous guest's comments included "bed bugs is all I have to say" and "I counted 14 spiders on the ceiling." This has sent me into complete meltdown and I've just bought a pop-up dome shaped mosquito net to go on the hostel beds, an anti-bed bug sheet, an anti-bug sheet impregnation kit and anti-bug spray. I'm hoping that this will be sufficient.
After trying on my hiking rucksack (80L) a few days ago, and nearly flling down the stairs with the weight of it (packed) I've cancelled my NZ hiking tour. I'm going on a tour around the whole of NZ with the Magic Bus company instead which should be a little more couch potato friendly.
That's all for now,
