Woke up nice and early thanks to still being on New York time, and decided just to have a day wandering, nice not to have a plan.
Pottered up and down Santa Monica Bld and Hollywood Bld, looking at the walk of fame and seeing if I could actually spot many names I knew in stars - turns out not many. Went and saw the Hollywood sign.
Then this guy stopped me and asked if I wanted to go to a live taping of Chelsey Lately's show. Don't really like her show that much, but you never know which celebs she might have, and it sounded fun so I thought why not? So went to this studio with this guy and a few others, only to be told it was already full - gutted! And I then had to make my own way back. Oh dear.
Well, as I have recently become slightly more adapt at buses in Edinburgh (blame the 4 year old I looked after - it got embarassing when I realised he was better than me and I regularly got "Natalie we need to get off here cos it's the 29 and it doesn't go up that hill" etc). So, due to my new found skills with buses I decided to brave it. Didn't work. I did get on one going in the right direction, but it looped everywhere and anywhere and I started to feel sick. And, Americans are weird. you know how in Edinburgh sometimes random drunks start shouting at people on buses, and people kind of look at the floor? Well, Americans do that too, except they're sober. And I know this because the woman who was doing it today was shouting about she didn't drink any more because "it affected her liver too much" What?!
Anyway, so I'm feeling sick, and trapped by loud Americans, so decide it's not for me, and try to get off. Only to discover this isn't possible. There's no button to push?!?! Help. So i have to sit there, trying to find something fixed outside that i can stare at to stop me feeling sick, when thank God the bus voice over mand goes "stop has been requested". No idea how the person requested this cos I certianly couldn't find a button anywhere.
So I got off and took the train. Stays on tracks, goes from A to B. Much more reliable. Also checked out the celebs for today and Chelsey's show and they were crap, so not too bothered about not going.
Loving today - not having to wear a coat is soooooo fab!!!
So, decided to go out as found this organised pub crawl thing for "travellers" (!). Was actually really good fun, saw a few Hollywood bars, got absolutely smashed and lost my camera! Opps. Still, at least I managed to keep passport and bank card etc, probably would have been more of a disaster if I'd have lost them! Still kind of hoping the club we went to will have it, but it doesn't open again till tonight.
Met some cool people too - some guys from Stockport (they were very impressed I'd heard of it - thanks Sue!). And totally randomly, met this girl from Cambridge, she was travelling with her boyfriend and was chatting to him for a bit. He was asking me which part of Cambridge I was from and where I went to school etc, and when he had actually heard of Ely, I was like oh no, he's going to realise I went to Kings. And then I get the dreaded question - which school were you at in Ely? Couldn't really lie and make anything up as he seems to know what he was talking about. But get this, when I did admit to it, turns out he went to Kings too!! Very random. Was in the year below me, but left at the end of Junior School. So anyway, totally back up my point that Cambridge is actually the most small and incestuous place in the world!
