Hello all, and welcome to my last blog from New Zealand, I leave tomorrow, alone, for the next exciting leg of my trip... FIJI!!! Here I'll probably be incognito for 2 weeks, I'm not sure how up to date Fiji is with technologies... lol.
Well, I left you off in Christchurch, dying of the travellers flu... our next stop was Kaikoura, home of the whales and so, my whale watching trip! We got to Kaikoura early afternoon, to find that the weather was horrible and thus the whale watching was cancelled! Damn shame, I was looking forward to seeing some flukes!! So instead I went to a seal colony with Kane and some others off the bus, which was quite cool, then got chips outta a good fush n chup shop, they were good! Didn't really do much else that day, just sat about and watched Bridget Jones The End of Reason! Very good!!
Wednesday brought us back to Wellington! In the Queen Charlotte Sounds we saw a big pod of dolphins and some seals... a dolphin watching trip and convenient ferry trip rolled into one... woo!! Then once we entered the Cook Strait it got rough so I did my usual, curled up and slept in the kiddies bit!! Next thing I know we're in Wellington, works a treat! Didnt really do much today once we all got settled, some laundry and got my stuff sorted to send home!
Thursday, my first full day in Wellington, and boy did I take advantage!! I lay on in bed till bout 10 then got myself ready, got my stuff posted, at an extortionate price, then found an STA Travel where I got Fiji sorted out and got information on trips in USA! Then I spent the rest of the afternoon in Te Papa, the national museum of New Zealand... it was a very good museum, tho there was loads to get thru! So walked around for a bit then just headed back to the hostel where I made myself dinner then went to bed, I'm still not feeling 100%
Friday was awesome!!! I went on an Official Lord of the Rings tour, it was brilliant! We stopped at so many filming locations and I got to act out parts of the movie, being Frodo, and Legolas! It was hilarious!! There was only the 2 of us on the tour, me and Teresa, a girl from California! The scenery around us was beautiful and we learnt alot about the filming of the movies, and little tricks of the trade that Peter Jackson used! It was fun! You'll all have a laugh at the pictures!! We also visited Weta Studios which are responsible for a lot of CGI and props in films like LOTR, King Kong, The Chronicles of Narnia, and Halo! It was very interesting, and we were greeting by a life-size model of Gollum, I was amazed and just stared at it for ages, its an exact copy of Gollum outta the movie... OK its kinda hard to explain wot I mean but anyway!! After the tour which lasted all day I quick footed it to STA to book my USA tour, I didnt get the one I wanted but still got one which is the main thing! Then I walked back to the hostel past some Hare Krishna parade! I then went down to the Basement Bar for a few drinks with Soph, my last night with here, I'm gonna miss her, she's fantastic!!
So that brings me to today, Saturday, where I flew from Wellington to Auckland. There was only one person on checking people in and as a result about 15 of us were still checking in as the plane was being boarded... lots of fun! But we all got there in the end, and the flight was good, until we started our descent... Since I'm still massively blocked up my ears wouldn't pop and I couldn't pop them, and I got excruciating pains in my synuses (I'm guessing thats wot it was, it was along the length of my eyebrows anyway). It felt like someone was stabbing me with a burning needle! So now I'm worried about 2moro's flight, I do NOT wanna experience something like that again!! But I got to the hostel in one piece and lay down for a bit then went to finally collect my new glasses!! Wooo!! So I've been told to wait a week before sending my old ones home for just incaseys, so I mite just give them to Mum and Dad wen I see them! Save on the cost of postage!! Then the rest of the day was spent literally doing nothing! Tomorrow I mite head to Kelly Tarlsons, depending on prices and times etc!
Well, farewell from New Zealand, I enjoyed my time here, but I'm looking forward to spending 2 weeks in the sun!!
Love and miss you all xxx
