Well here they are finally after practically a month, my fabled and promised blog entries. All of these were written while chilled on the beach in Goa with a cold beer - definitely the most laid back few days I've had since I left. We have just heard about the Mumbai terror attacks and to think we were there a week to the day before everything kicked off is scary stuff but it hasn't changed any of my plans and we're hopping on a train down to Kerala this evening (27th). So if I can get this thing working alright here is Delhi to Mumbai over the past few weeks. You can view them all using the bar on the right hand side if you click on India and go in order from the bottom up to the top, there's quite alot so you may not want to read it all in one go!
Waking up hungover as hell and feeling like death back on the Nov 1st feels almost like an eternity ago now. Back then at 7am after a couple hours sleep being typical me I still had crap loads of last minute stuff to do, I'd rushed the majority of the final organising til the week before & all my packing til the night before yet still had a list of things scrawled in my phone from the previous night to rush before heading to the aiport. After leaving and getting 5 minutes up the road I remembered the single solitary thing I'd forgotton - my tickets... twat! Got to Heathrow with loads of time to spare - probs just as well as I was using the infamous terminal 5. The self check-in machines decided not to like me very much, apparently as I'd failed to pre-check-in the previous night I'd been placed on standby as the Delhi flight was completely chokka. Off to a good start then - cheers BA! Ironically as a backpacker apparently overbooked flights are a godsend as if you give up your seat the airline will almost worship the ground you walk on - free hotel, free food etc until the next available flight. Unfortunately this was not something that seemed particularly appealing after rushing around like a maniac for the past 24 hours to get everything ready for this flight.
After bumming around departures for an hour and having a couple goodbye phone calls they thankfully confirmed me and issued my proper boarding pass - phew. The annoyance paid off when I got on the plane as I'd been given a front-row extra legroom window seat - sorted. The flight was pretty interesting as we flew over the Eastern European block which I'd never seen before, from the air or otherwise. Unfortunately as we got over the Middle East and Pakistan etc the sun set, and soon we began the descent over India.
