Thanks Mom and Dad!
Hello again-
We got a complaint that the last entry was a little too graphic, so we'll try to tone it down a little and we hope you guys keep reading.
So after our last journal entry we went back to the hotel to recuperate, then got some delicious open face sandwich type things at a Dutch deli, and headed back to the Red Light District to see the real deal (at night). It was quite an interesting experience and we had to stop at a bar to get drinks. There we met a group of Texans who we might meet up with in London (Deena you might be getting a call on your "mobile," sorry we're giving your number out at bars).
Anyway, the red light district was pretty surreal. Some of the prostitutes were characters. One told a guy to come in and she would pay him 50 euros to have sex with him. He almost did it until she told him the details of how she was going to have sex with him. His response was, "exit only." It's amazing how close all the prostitutes are to the sidewalk, and it kind of feels old fashioned with the legal brothels. We got a little turned around walking in so many circles and ended up having to take a cab home.
The next day we didn't do much. But today we got sandwiches at the Dutch deli again, went to the torture museum, and the Anne Frank House. The torture museum was a little messed up and depressing, but also grueseome and interesting.
Anne Franks house was really sad. It showed how the house was set up and where the eight people hid with quotes from Anne Franks diary explaining each part of the house and the different people taking care of them. At the end it explained how they were caught by the Nazi's and put in concentration camps. Only Anne Frank's father survived out of the eight, and they had some footage of him teary eyed talking about Anne's diary that he found and read after he new she was dead. It was especially heart wrenching because we could see what an innocent smart girl Anne Frank was by reading her diary entries.
After letting it all soak in while sitting in a little square we came hear to update the journal. From here we might get etheopian food and then our flight to London leaves tomorrow at 6:15pm. So next time from London probably. Everyone take care.
Love,
Nate and Kristina
