Thanks Mom and Dad!
Bonjour!!!
So we've finally made it to a couple of sights in Paris: Notre Dame and the Louvre. Mona Lisa won the popularity contest over Venus de Milo and the Winged Victory of Samothrace, even though she was the ugliest chic out of the three. She was so popular it was hard to get a glimpse at her over all the tourists, but it was worth it anyway. Kristina has a new favorite sketch artist, Hubert Robert, and after going to Notre Dame Nate has rekindled his love for Gargoyles. Not only did we get lots of pictures of gargoyles and great views from Notre Dame, we got a great bun and thigh workout climbing the stairs to the bell tower. We also very much appreciated the stained glass and a mosaic of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Our first bad eating experience in Paris happened two nights ago when we tried to eat at a cheap "greasy spoon" in the Latin Quarter. The cheap three course meal was very bad and the restaurant was hot and cramped. We did talk to an old dutch/italian/french/a little crazy couple the whole night though, understanding only parts of the conversation. They had been all over the world and spoke Italian, Dutch, English, French, German, Russian, Latin, and Greek between the two of them. The Dutch guy had studied Architecture at the Art Institute of Paris and the Italian lady was disgusted with her lasagne and sent it back. They were pretty funny and entertaining. We stuck with quiches, croisants, and eclairs for lunch today, very tasty and cheap.
Anyway, tomorrow we will catch the views from the eifel tower in the morning and then picnic in the Gardens of the Rodin Museum with our books and the Thinking Man. We appreciate all the messages from everyone, so keep'm comin'. Bye 'til next time.
Love,
Nate and Kristina
