My first walk of the holiday was a 9 hour hike to the base of the north face. So amazing. I don't think that many people do it from the grund as we seem to be the only people. It wasn't a hard hike but it was hot and long.
About half way up the steepest part my legs were already begging to get a little worse for where. I could feel the blisters start but we all carried on. As we got to the cold part where the sun hadn't reached the bottom of the north face we had a brief rest and watched the wing suiters jump from the mushroom. A slight panic as one of them didn't look like he was going to make it but the shoot opened just metres from the ground. Scary stuff.
Anyway we got the Station had our lunch and then started our way back down.
Archy practically collapsed about half an hour from the end and I wasn't far behind. all in all about 9 hours of walking.
