Omaha Beach/ Caen: Day 4.
Today was so wonderful! We had an incredibly early morning (wake up call was 6:15), but once we left we could sleep on the bus. It was a looong drive, but so worth it. We went to the Normandy American Cemetery and got to perform a wreath laying ceremony at the memorial. We sang Hear My Prayer and that was nice, but then we started singing Shenandoah and a lot of us just kind of lost it. All around, people who were just there visiting or taking a tour stopped to listen and a lot of them had tears in their eyes. It was a very emotional ceremony, but so beautiful. We got to learn all about the history at the spot that it took place, and that was really, really cool.
After we left Normandy, we went for lunch in this cute little town called Port en Bessin, right on the ocean and got seafood for lunch! Ps, apparently mussels have tongues...and you eat them...
