Allo!
So, the good news.... I survived Amsterdam!!! I am in reception and seems as if I'm not going to miss the bus :)
Was really different here then I thought it would be, alot more commercialised then I expected!
Headed out on the walking tour on the first morning here - insanely hot! Was apparently 36 degrees the first day I was here! Let me tell you, it felt like it!!!! Was interesting to hear the history of the city and see the good ol' red light district.
We broke off toward the end of the tour and went across to see Anne Frank's house. Really surreal to see, and think that was actually where they were, hiding for nearly 2 years. Regretting not buying the book while I was there, but def think I'll buy it and have a read sometime on the trip.
And the question on everyones minds - no, didn't see a sex show, and didn't eat any muffins... yes I know, wtf?? But I just didnt end up having time spending half the time I was here recovering from hangovers haha.... i know, poor form, but I definitely want to come back here with friends and see the whole thing, hire some bikes and see the country-side as well. Not finished with Amsterdam yet!
The one big night out we had was again random and pretty much hilarious! Started with some boys making their friend think that a glass of detergent was Absynth and he chugged the whole thing.... whoops. Apparently he'd heard that you can die from that, so ended up in the hospital the next few hours to make sure he was going to make it!
Ended up jumping in a random boat with some people cruising down the canals, welcoming us with a bottle of Bacardi and some dance music in the boat to fit! Free canal ride, then off to another bar, where a couple of the girls ended up behind the bar!
I did a bit of a Houdini, and got a little lost in the streets of Amsterdam before taking a VERY expensive taxi ride home!
Oh! And of course the football (soccer) game! Was awesome!!! We went to a big park where they had big huge screens showing the game - the crowd went absolutely SPASTIC when Holland won! Was really cool to be a part of! Especially to beat Brazil!!!
Saw the sex museum yesterday - thing that stood out the most, was the old school porn - like from the 1800's!!!!!! they had photographs and let me tell you, they weren't all as proper as you'd like to think back then behind the closed doors! haha
Well, its now after 730, gotta chow some brekky and head off to the bus for the next stop. Very, VERY sad to leave my double bed! But excited for my adventures yet to come in Berlin!
Dank U!
Afscheid!!
