The last two days have been spent with at least 100, 000 people watching fast cars race each other.
It is so exciting to hear the motors and watch them streak down the track. You can feel the power of the cars in the grandstand. I got to see a crash where the whole body of the "funny car" flew up into the air and the car caught on fire. Luckily the drivers wear full fire proof suits and he was able to get out unharmed and race again later in the day.
I learnt a lot about dragster and funny car racing and it was interesting to learn about another sport.
I have access to lots of photos and videos to share back at school for those that are interested.
The cars that run on nitro methane (top fuel cars) have to have their motors rebuilt after each run down the track. I got to watch a car have its motor totally rebuilt. About 6 mechanics pulled apart and built a new motor in 60 minutes - it was absolutely amazing to watch them work together as a team. Everyone knew their job and they did not get in each others way.
I ate a huge smoked turkey leg whilst at the track which was an experience as I am sure it was nearly the size of my head.
