So in 2 weeks, 2 days, and about 6 hours, I will be on a plane headed for Italy (Ok, well, Detroit first, but that doesn't sound nearly as cool). I figured I might start my little blog out with an intro post--I started this blog so my family and friends can get updates of my Roman adventure this fall, see pictures of my travels (assuming my dinky little camera doesn't crap out), and get some confirmation that I am alive and haven't been abducted a la "Hostel." Perhaps I'll practice un poco italiano, perche in reality, I am probably going to be the only one reading this :) BUT, if you are, in fact, spending your valuble time reading this instead of watching Mark Harmon's strange center part on NCIS or filling out TPS reports like your boss thinks you are, grazie, and please feel free to leave comments or ask questions! I'm not planning on using the phone or Facebook much so this will probably be one of the better places to talk to me once I am in Rome.
Even though I've been trying to mentally, financially and languagely (might have made that word up) prepare all summer, this has somehow managed to completely sneak up on me and I am now in the oh-my-god-I'm-leaving-for-half-a-year-I-HAVEN'T-BEEN-PREPARING-AHHHH mode. But, I have a feeling it will work out for the best. I've taught myself a little basic Italian over the summer (something I should probably brush up on now, as my first test will be taking a cab as soon as I get there to get all the was across Rome from the Leonardo da Vinci Airport to the Rome Center). I'm starting to think about packing (which has lead me to realize I have more clothes than any two people should have), and becoming resigned to the fact that although I have saved up some money this summer, I am inevitably going to come back in debt. Completely worth it, I think. I shall update again once the date gets closer!!
Ciao!
