Well its been a while since our last entry and its been an eventful time here in New Zealand.
We done alot of relaxing in Auckland although we did enjoy a night out, some nice meals and had some luck at the casino which was good fun.
On arrival in Paihia i came down with a severe case of tonsilitis which had me flat out for 3 days and i had to pay to see the doctor, antibiotics etc. Our bosses at the hostel were so good to us and gave us a double room for free, free internet, free laundry etc even though i was unable to work.
Unfortunately Jo and Alex aren't going to be our bosses anymore as the place has been bought over and they have lost the jobs as management and asked to leave within a week! We are unsure as to if we will be kept on or if we are allowed to keep the double room but we will have to see what happens in the next few days.
I managed to get a little cleaning job in the mornings for a couple of hours at a bar called The Salty which is next door to us. Paihia is breathtaking and the Pictures do no justice to the laid back vibe and pretty surroundings that give the place it's fabulous reputation.
Thomas has some great news as he is going on a Long line deep sea fishing boat for 1 week and there is a good possibility of big bucks for one weeks work. However i will be on my own for a week but i have made so many friends here that it will be fine. We are like a big family and Jo will be sticking around until Thomas and Alex return. We now have a nz bank account, Tax number and i have just printed out cv's so i will have to get on with finding us both more full time work.
We get the four seasons of weather in one day here although i am still developing a tan in the winter, as the sun is so strong here. The New Zealanders are amazing cooks and we have had some lovely food, the baking is especially good. In our free time we have been fishing, visiting neighbouring towns and villages, socialising at the hostel and generally chilling out. It is time now to get our fingers out and start work, but i know that we have many fun times ahead of us. I hope that you are all well and we are both missing you all like mad.
