On the bus into downtown Tokyo we saw the metropolitan sprawl of the city - not really all that impressive apart from its size as it's just like any other large city, lots of grey buildings, industrial estates etc. We arrived at our hotel around 12pm extremely tired and hungry, it was our responsibility to cater for ourselves all day until the conferences and opening ceremonies etc begun tomorrow. Thank god I made friends with a girl back in London who could speak fluent Japanese, and kind of new the area of Tokyo we had been placed in (Shinjuku) Not sure how we would have coped without her. She met up with her ex Japanese boyfriend in the lobby of the hotel and they both proceeded us to show us round and take us for lunch.
