We are now in Florence and staying in an apartment right on the Arno next to the Ponte Vecchio. The photos on the website for the apartment did not lie. We look out our window and there is the bridge. Photo attached to this entry is from our dining room window!
Unfortunately Matthew is not very well at the moment (although he is on the improve) but this has not stopped me from getting out and about. The city is easy to get around and not very busy at this time of year. There is a lot to be said for travelling in winter in Europe. The leather available for purchase is beyond my wildest dreams and both shoes and handbags are in more than adequate supply. I will have to keep a lid on purchases though as we still have one more train trip to do before heading home and getting bags on and off trains can be challenging.
The city itself is just full of sculpture and art galleries. Around every corner there is another amazing sight. There are also paper shops with calligraphy supplies along every street and no tutors in the city itself according to one of the shop owners.
Let's jut say I think this is a place I will need to revisit again in the not too distant future.
Will upload some photos from the apartment and around the city in a new album.
