Well alot of things have happened since I have come to australia (even though I have only been in here a few days)
After leaving my hostel in HK I was unable to sleep for over 48 hours mainly due to being around alot of really noisy people on the plane and not being able to sleep the night properly before (i.e. I drank alot and woke up alot of people to say good bye .... at 4 am in my HK hostel!)
Anyway sometime later I some how managed to make it to Australia and got to my bed at 1pm the next day but the 9 girls! I was shareing my room with were soo noisy and I kinda realised it wasn't going to happen. so i headed off to see the Harbour bridge and opera house. I then headed back and tried to get some sleep again but didn't work so stayed up and watched a few film in the hostel with some other people staying here.
The next day I went to Manly to go on a surfing day teaching tour up the coast with a guy called ryan and another dude from the UK called andrew. it was a great day I really love surfing now.I learnt how to stand up and somewhat stear the board although i did hert myself... alot! lost count on the amount of times I hit myslef with my own board! lol
I headed to bondi beach the next day and chilled for hours and got a very nice sun burn.... ur I mean sun tan, the ocean was like far to cold to go swimming in and the second I was about to rent surf board, the life guards where telling some of the surfer's to stay close to the shore as the waves and the current was pretty strong and was getting intense and the currents started to pull people out abit. so i didn't go surfing in the end (which i was abit gutted about but was proberly the smartest choice).
Later on I met some new people at the hostel most from Ireland or Europe or USA or local students or people with visa's working in OZ and living in the hostel. I went out to the local to pubs in kings cross. where I met an irish dude called Brian and we drank a little bit too much and didn't get in till 3am ( some of the pubs are open till 5am at least here). Next day I headed back to Manly and went surfing and was sooo good! had a great time think i rided 3-5 waves in 2 hours! was well chuffed! (honestly its such a physically demanding sport, far more demanding than snowboarding) I really loved Manly it was the first place I have been so far and thought I could live here so easily! I wish we had places in the UK like it, (I really hope we do somewhere). I then realised that in the future, wherever I live it has to be near the coast and the beach, its soo soothing to watch and hear the waves come down.
anyway after being at bondi and manly and getting a feel for the ocean I realised I wanted to go see some large fish, the next day I went all around darling harbour to go to the sydney aqarium. Then later on I came across and old restaurant I went to, when I came here over 10 years ago! and the memories came flooding back!, it was very nice and abit surprising, so decided to go back there for a meal and had my first Kangaroo, was amazing!
Later that night pretty much the entire hostel were drinking (it was friday night) and I met alot of new people. The hostel Im staying in feels like an american colledge dorm as everyone seems to know everyone. Anyway a few of us went to one of Sydney's biggest night clubs called IVY. It was an impressive night club one of the nicest I have seen, it had trees built into it's foundation and was well hidden but huge!. I met some cool irish people where we tought each other some very cheezey dance moves (e.g. the paint brush and the jack hammer! lol altho there was no break dancing floor to show my moves like in Amsterdam lol!) I decided not to drink alot as Iv come to realise that if all i wanted to do was get drunk and go to clubs then I might aswell have stayed at home.
Anyway tomorrow is my full last day in sydney, its hard to belieave that iv been traveling for nearly 2 weeks already in some respects it feels alot longer and in others it feels i have just started. One of my main reasons for returning to Australia was to learn how to surf so I think I going to spend my last days down at one of OZ beaches practicing.
Then on the monday Im heading to the place that inspired this entire trip and plan on spending the majority of my time on my journey.... New Zealand!
