Naomi and Becky's Travels
Arrived in the Cameron highlands Friday afternoon. Got put in a really nice apartment - there's 2 massive lounges complete with tvs and dvd players and a big stereo. There's also a huge kitchen with a washing machine. Very exciting.
Decided to stay in the apartment and get drunk in the evening - much cheaper! We were up until 5.30am chatting and playing cards - dont think the older members of the group were too impressed! Never mind.
Only problem was we had to be up the next day at 8am to go on a ful day adventure tour around the Highlands. Only got 2 and a half hours sleep!
Tour was really good - went to the largest tea plantation in the Highlands and went to fctpory where they produce the tea. Had a cup of Boh tea - really nice and fresh - probably the best cup of tea I\'ve ever had.
We were driven around in a jeep round loads of really windy roads - not good when everyone was suffering with a hangover!
Next stop was a butterfly farm where we saw loads of really pretty butterflies and bug things - including scorpions which the boys decided they would like to hold!
Next we went for lunch at a Chinese cafe place - not too nice - loads of chicken feet and things like that!
We then had a 3 hour trek - quite hard work when you\'ve ponly had a couple of hours sleep! All of us managed it ok though - was pretty tough - had been raining so there was mud everywhere - got absolutely covered! Loads of sheer mud faces to climb and descend - cut my finger grabbing hold of a plant to stop myself falling down the side of a mud bank! Everyone was concentrating so much on not falling over no one really felt tired luckily.
Had to go across loads of streams standing on bamboo poles trying not to fall in and trying to keep hold of my camera!
The aim of the trek was to find some flowers - think they said they are the largest in the world. Really big and rubber looking red things.
On the way back to the jeep we went to a waterfall where the boys had a swim and I got bitten by loads of ants - gross!
We then went to an aboriginal village where we fed the little kids - Mike got surrounded by them trying to grab food off of him. When we left they were then chasing our jeep down the road jumping onto the back of it and hitting the back window!
Got back and we were all absolutely shattered and covered in mud. Well worth doing though.
