Distance: 2 miles
Elevation gained: N/A

1 word summary of the day: dark
Pretty much a rest day in Gunnison to buy more food and eat lots of food before heading back on the trail! I still woke up early anyway, so had lots of time to both run errands and relax at the fabulous Wanderlust hostel.
Trail angel Apple was supposed to pick us up at the hostel at 5 after dropping off Brandon and Blake, but we ended up not heading back to the trail until almost 7:30pm as he wanted to grab some dinner and one of the hikers that he shuttled in (Magnolia) wanted to resupply and then head back to the trail tonight as well. So Veda and I got on the trail around 8:45pm with Magnolia (and her labradoodle Fiona) as well as Marshall and Alex (who I last saw just before Leadville) who were waiting for her at the trailhead as they were going to night hike the next section ( as it is quite flat and probably hot during the day as it is pretty open). We might hiked with them for 2 miles, and then said goodbye and set up camp for the night. Night hiking would be great if there was a full moon, but it's kind of hard to see the trail with only a small headlight!
So a short day, and we'll get up early to hike the next section before it gets too hot as there is also not a lot of water in this section either. I'm looking forward to getting back into the wilderness areas with more flowing creeks! But due to the night hiking I'm going to bed at 10pm instead of 8pm as usual!
