So after lots of hours on planes (although I forget how much more comfortable long haul planes are!) and a brief visit to New York airport I got to the Miami hostel last night.
I was really surprised to find this place online, and it looked far too good to be true - cheap, homely and lively but it really is! I'm in an 8 person dorm - mixed sex which is a bit random, and I scored the lower bunk (win) where the light doesn't work (less win). Outside there is a pool and a cocktail bar. I thought I'd treat myself to a vodka after all the flying, but didnt quite realise bar prices over here! The bar stays open till 2 and with it being so warm there are loads of people around to natter too and sofas to chill on, all in all a really nice atmosphere.
After spending hardly any time organising this trip I was worried that I would have forgotten something, luckily I didn't... But STA did forget that if my flight isn't leaving here till Thursday I might just want to stay here Wednesday night as well! All sorted now though.
Spent my morning walking around the city just seeing what's about. Ace thing about America is that with the grid system even I can't get lost, so need for a map, which I would inevitably use to get myself more lost anyway! And grabbed lunch in a burger bar (thinking this will be the theme this holiday...)
The suns disappeared for the day (probably because I came along) and its windy as hell, which means the sea has ace waves - that's my afternoon sorted!
