For my 3rd day in sydney i did pretty much stick to free things on my pass and i started with a tour of the opera house. Then i bought a day pass for the ferry and headed accross the harbour to Manly. There i visited oceanworld which was free on my pass and it was not bad but there wasnt really that much to see. I then headed to the Art gallery and Museum which was actually not too bad. I usually dont like art places cause i never understand them but this one had some pretty good exhabitions on.
Then i headed back on the ferry and to Darling Harbour where i visited the wildlife park (again free on my pass) and that was not too bad, they had all the native auzzie wildlife there. Next it was too the IMAX theatre as they had the worlds biggest screen and i had never seen an IMAX show before. I saw a underwater film and with the massive scree and 3d glasses it was like being in the ocean, the picture quality was perfect.
I then got the ferry back to Circular Quay where i had time to catch a movie before heading back to my hostel at around 10pm.
My 4th Day i went to Government house for a free tour first and that was not bad, then got on the ferry to Darling Harbour and went to the sky tower where i did a simulator ride and went to the observation deck for a panormaic view of the city. Next was a visit to the martime museum which had boats and submarines that you could climb aboard and explore. Then i wanted to do a speed boat ride but they were fully booked and it started to rain anyway so i headed back to circular quay and took in a free movie.
Then i headed to the Aquarium which was pretty big and had quite a lot there but i suppose after you have seen one shark or seal or fish you have pretty much seen them all. At night i went out for a few beers with a couple of scottish guys from my dorm.
My final full day in sydney i had a tour booked to ensure i did something as my sydney pass had run out and attractions were no longer free. The tour started at 7.40am and lasted for most of the day but it was pretty good.
Our first stop was a wildlife sanctuary which was like a zoo with no bars, i got to pet a koala and hand feed some kangaroos and they had a large selction of animals there. Then it was off to the blue mountains which you can drive pretty much to the top off (good for the lazy hill climber) There we went to a lookout point before heading to Scenic world which was a walkway near by. There i went on the steepest inland railway in the world and i made the mistake of sitting in the front row. basically you start by lying back and then as you acend you end up standing pretty much by the end, only there are no saftey bars or glass to stop you falling of the train! Its kind of crazy.
After that we headed to a wine yard to do some wine tasting and although none of the wines were spectacular it was still free booze. Then for the last part of the trip we drove through olympic park and by that time it was heavy rain so we never stopped to look around. At night it was Paddys day so i attemted to keep a low profile as i had a flight the next day. Easier said than done really, i went doen to the side bar for my usual $10 steak and ended up with a couple of irish guys and an english couple! It was quite a good night and i managed to not drink too much and head off at 11pm to pack my case and get some sleep!
