Caesarea Maritima was built along Sea of Mediterranean by King Herod as an honor to King Caesar who crowned him as King of Jews.
This is a pagan Roman monument with aqueduct and theatre with sculptures. Today, you can only find the ruin of sculptures made of marbles, imported from Turkey.
In here, Peter preached about Jesus Christ to Cornelius' householdone, one of the earliest Gentiles believer in New Covenant. Caesarea maritima marks the place where the Christianity gospel spread to the other parts of the world.
We encountered a unique experience here where we met a group of Japanese singing 'Amazing Grace' at the stage of theatre, worshipping the Lord and praying for restoration of Japan from the consecutive massive disasters of earthquake, Tsunami, and nuclear plant explosion. It was a very touching moment as we sang the song together as one body of Christ.
