Hi everyone! As most of you know, I am spending the first half of my junior year abroad in New Zealand. This is a place I've always dreamed of visiting, and I can't believe I'm actually here! The people are incredibly friendly, the Maori culture fascinating, and the landscape even more beautiful than I imagined - and I've only seen a glimpse of it so far.
I'm studying on the North Island at the University of Waikato in Hamilton. I spent my first week touring nearby areas with AustraLearn, the organization that helped Juniata College set up this study abroad experience. So my first few days were packed with awesome adventures, which was a great way to start out my experience here.
Communication is a little tricky (especially since I'm sort of living in the future compared to you all back home), so I'm hoping this blog will help to give you a glimpse of my life in this faraway place. Don't feel you have to read every last entry, as I'm doing my best to keep a detailed record for my own memory as well. Whatever you choose to read, I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy recapping the memories I'm making!
