Howdy!
Turned out the rest of mainland USA isn't as cold as my darling San Fran, which I have been immensely greatful for!Well camping in Grand Canyon was absolutely freezing (I mean Finland cold!!!) but the reward of seeing the canyon was bigger than the suffering for sure. We went to Yosemite first, I didn't have much expectations to be honest as I hadn't really looked into it. But I have to say it was amazingly beautiful, and made it straight to my top 5 list of most gorgeous places in the world!!! (road to Hana,Grand Canyon, fountains at the Bellagio in Las Vegas and Taj Mahal are also there) I didn't do as much hiking as the rest of our little team, obviously, but I took some great pictures and was very pleased with myself. To be honest it's very hard to take bad pictures in Yosemite, unless you're taking pics of you..:)
Las Vegas was steaming hot and very touristy, but provided good scenery and lots to see! We took a limousine ride down the strip and gambled in numerous casinos (I may have lost some, but it could've been worse), went on the Insanity ride at the top of Stratosphere tower (turned out I'm still scared of hights) and saw an amazing topless show starring Mel B and some other semifamous girl. Jen and I didn't quite embrace the nightlife as vigorously as the boys, but we had a great time regardless!!
As I said Grand Canyon was freezing at night but beautiful at daylight, we saw both the sunset and sunrise (got up at 04.40 for that, mind you..) and hiked along the rim for some gorgeous pictures! I'm not quite sure but we may have seen some condors, I need to show the pictures to someone who knows their birds.. After the Canyon that was very grand, we spent our last night by the Colorado river where it was nice and hot again. I had a rather mean cold, but luckily it's going away now. We ended our trip with a tour in Los Angeles, and then got dropped off at our hostel. Jen and I are both here and we're meeting Lauria in Universal studios tomorrow, so it was easier to say goodbye to the team. All in all the trip can only be described in one word: AWESOME.
LA as a city isn't very appealing to me, it's huge and a little cold after Las Vegas. I did see Darth Vader strolling down Sunset avenue singing merrily under his helmet, so it's definitely not a boring place by any means!!:) Only a few days to go before I reunite with mommy and Hantta in NY, can't wait!!!!
Awesome.
