Well it has been a very fun few days since leaving the ever so easy english speaking Australia.
My flight was fun being sat in-between a man who insisted in almost sitting in my lap and an elderly lady who i felt bad making get up every time I wanted to get up, oh year and the 14hours of screaming babies. But I made it through the flight with out killing any children and had smooth sailing until Geneva, Switzerland.
After about 30 minutes of not being able to find my bike (there are 2 oversized baggage claims at Geneva Airport you have to go to carousel 9 for anyone arriving in Geneva with a bike) I make my way to air port transfers, all happy as I thought I would just get on a bus and make my way to my hotel. Not as easy as I had planned. So only lady at the desk told me I had to go on a Train then a tram then a bus and cross the border to get to my destination. I thought oh thats funny this place must be in a funny spot in Switzerland. So i drag my bike box back pack and bag I had on the flight over to the ticket lady who told me a totally different story, when I asked here where exactly this place was I am staying she said it was in France... I was like oh umm ok so how do I get here. So again she said you will need to go by train, tram, tram, bus and walk. So no sleep for the past 24 hours a heavy bag and bike box, I made my way to first train, somehow got the box on the train (trains are not made for bike boxes) and somehow managed to get to mu first tram. Not knowing where my next stop would be I asked a nice looking man to help me, lucky for me he spoke better English then I did and got me to my next tram. The rest of the trip was pretty good most people could understand me and the bus driver in France made a special detour to get me to my hotel (thank you). So next thing to go wrong was I had booked not enough nights at this hotel and had only 1 night. (S#@T). After looking everywhere I couldn't find anything in Geneva that wasn't $1000+ for 1 night I thought I would just have a 2 hour snooze and go down and fix it up. Well the 2 hour snooze turned into a 15 hour snooze, whoops. so went down this morning to book for another 2 nights, but no couldn't be done I could stay 1 night thats it, (these people where not the same as the ones when I checked in and they didn't like that fact I could not speak French, every time I go down to reception I get a death stear from them) So I made my way to the info center, then thought I would go back to Geneva and have a look for a swimming pool.
This time going into Geneva wasn't so bad, I kinda had an idea of where to go except for the pool thing. So I decided to go into a hotel to 1) see if they had any accom what so ever and 2) see if there was a pool near by. No luck on the accom situation but luck to the pool, ok so her directions where pretty good i just couldn't find this river to cross turns out she forgot to tell me to cross the road. So walked around for about 30 minutes or so to find this pool. Got it, but do you think I could find the entry? No. Ok so the entry to the sports bar was much easier to find then the entry to the pool so my thought was F'it I'm going for a drink. I didn't have a drink I asked someone where the entry was, she spoke no english and I spoke no french and the only thing I could figure out was turn right. so I turned right and I went down some stairs which lead you to the exit to the pool, so I walked around and around this huge building and could not find the entry. Turns out it was a across the road and to my LEFT. Ok so got in the pool battled with everyone doing breast stroke, they actually move pretty well while doing breast stroke but not as fast as the super fish from Australia in her Atlas togs (shell they fit well) lasted 45 minutes and got out. Made my way back to the border with my lunch in hand and not getting lost once.
Still not having anywhere to stay as of tomorrow night Mum had sent me a message saying she could organize something with her cousin Paris, so Mrs organized had put me onto her cousin who has ever so kindly let me stay with him and his family from tomorrow until Saturday where I will head off to Autun to do my first race.
So off to try some more of the wonderful French food around here, I have already found my favorite patisserie, almond crassont and custard and strawberry tart. YUMMM
Until next time Au revoir!

Melanie Haha fantastic story Barka! Glad I'm not the only one who gets hopelessly lost on the odd occasion in Europe. If you ever get stuck for accom. you are more than welcome to pop into Munich and stay with me :)
