Singapore,
Well this was a quick visit as we were only there for a day, and to be honest after seeing the price of things I was glad Singapore was the place we chose to spend such little time. We got a taxi from where the bus dropped us off and the taxi driver was really friendly but it soon became apparent that there’s a bit of a rift between KL and Singapore as he kept mentioning how much better Singapore is. We got to our hotel, chucked our bags in and made a cuppa we had a dvd player and tea and coffee in the room so were happy about that. We headed out and got a taxi to the city centre, this cost us a fair bit as they add on all the extras but we didn’t have time to mess about. So we take our time getting there as there’s a marathon on and lots of roads are closed. However we do drive down the f1 track which was pretty cool. We wanted to get a duck boat or just a regular hop-on hop-off bus but they were closed due to the marathon so we ended up going on the big wheel. I wasn’t too excited at first as I don’t like heights but once we were on there it was fine and didn’t feel like we were in a small space up really high at all. As long as I didn’t look straight down I was fine. It was beautiful from where we were and we could see all over Singapore which was nice as we didn’t have time to see it all in person. After watching people finish the marathon we decided to get the bus home. Well we tried but we didn’t know where abouts we lived or what bus to get. When we thought we had worked it out the bus driver just shook his head and continued to take tickets and talk to the people behind us so we got off and decided taxi was our only choice. That also wasn’t as easy, after about 90 mins we managed to hail a taxi down or as charlene called it haul a taxi. People up the road from us kept getting there before us even though we had been waiting there the longest! We finally got back to our hotel and after heading to karaoke bars to find that 1. all the songs were foreign and the singers were awful and 2. half a pint cost like 20 dollars we decided to get dinner and watch a film.
Nothing is simple in Singapore, we walked the streets for ages (I’m aware of how that sounds) So in end we ordered a pizza at the hotel (which got delivered to our hotel room door AMAZING) and settled down to pizza and Ashton Kutcher!! Nice!
The next morning we had to print off our flight tickets before we left for the airport and the guy at our hotel pointed us down the road to an internet cafe. When we walked in there was 2 people in there on the computers neither looked like they were gonna help us, so charlene asks the girl closest to us who works here and she points at the guy watching a film in the corner so off char trots and asks about printing he just points to a computer, none of which we manage to turn on properly and have no idea what we are meant to be doing so I go up to this guy again a little bit annoyed that he’s not a bit more helpful. He mentions something about the main desk, which now I realize probably meant wait for someone there not go behind the desk yourself and use the main computer haha...oh well I was fed up of waiting. So me and char go to the main desk go behind reception and try to log into my email. As we are doing this, this guy runs in shouting NOOOOOO and tells us we can’t be there to which we respond well you should have been there. Completely unfazed and finding it rather funny how much this guy is freaking out me and char are directed to a computer and we print off our tickets. We then get a taxi to the airport and head to Australia Bye Bye Asia it’s been fun!
