Hi everybody

Ive made it safely to South Africa! Cant beleive im doing my final project ill be home in just over 3 weeks!!

The meerkats im working with are so unbelievably cute! I expected it to take a few days for them to get used of me but on my first afternoon they were taking grasshoppers out of my hand! I felll like am in an episode of meerkat manor!

They are so hard to spot when your walking then suddenly all these little heads start popping up all over the place. I havent started doing much work yet im still letting them get used to me being around. Next week we start doing the research. Which is going to mean alot of early mornings.

We have to be at the burrow before they get up we got to the burrow at 6 oclock the other morning at they were already sunning themselves! Ill be helping study the way the group structure works, how they forage, mapping thier burrows and bolt holes that type of thing.

The most exciting part is theyve just had pups!!!! They were born on the day i arrived so in a couple of weeks they should be coming out. i cant wait to see them they are gonna be so cute!! Ill get to be one of the first people to see them :0)

Well i better go im going to a cherry festival today! I have no idea what it involves but seems to be a big thing around here so ill give it ago! Take care everybody and see you on the 18th! Dawn :0)
