Our time in the Land of Smiles is nearly over, with an overnight stop in Bangkok before hopping on a flight for Turkey.
Once again it was sad to leave the kids but we thoroughly enjoyed our short time with them. For us it was like returning to our second home, to the beautiful smiles of the kids and the big hugs we received from everyone.
We joined the children at temple to celebrate Buddha's Day, a day which celebrates the birth and death of Buddha. People from all over the province come together to join in prayer and to eat a meal together. The afternoon finished with some of the kids giving a performance on Buddha's life. That night we returned to the temple for the Candle Ceremony to pay our respects to the dead ancestors. Flower arrangements with a candle and incense sticks were lighted and then placed at the shrine outside of the temple.
We managed to get a few things done in between the rain breaks, we demolished a Sala that had fallen in a storm. In the process Daniel stood on a nail and took skin off his hand. We fixed one of the dining tables which Marilou's toe discovered is extremely heavy almost breaking it when she dropped it. We also successfully cleaned much of the walk ways with the high pressure hose (remarkably injury free). We did some English work with a few kids, Jang & Fon who were both keen to "rian puut passa angrit".
Tonight is all about using the washing machine in our awesome room here in BKK and getting ready for Turkey!
