Well, our trip to Mazatlan has started after a year of planning on the part of Grande Prairie and Edson Rotary Clubs.Victor and Murray spent Tuesday evening in Edmonton in order to catch the 0810 hr. flight to Victoria. The weather in Edmonton was cold and windy- at about minus 29. So a short 1 hour and eighteen minutes later, we were out of the snow and the cold and into the green grass of Victoria. This is likely the easiest part of the Mazatlan trip.No more flying for the next 6000 km.
We were picked up at the airport by Deputy Chief Karrie, who took us to the Langford Fire Department Station 1. Spent the day with Brian and Scott of the Langford F.D. Scott trained Murray in the operation of the Langford Telesquirt ladder and pump.Brian made sure that we got all of the maintenance information that we needed. Thanks Brian and Scott for working with us for the day- we had a great day and we are very comfortable with the truck. Chief Bob of Langford F.D. joined us in the afternoon. On behalf of the Rotary Clubs of Grande Prairie and Edson we must thank the members of the Langford Fire Department for their generous contribution to the project.
Despite the comments from the Langford firefighters about our long trip to Sidney- we arrived safe and sound at the Best Western.Enjoyed our evening and prepared for our trip tomorrow- crossing on the ferry and then Highway 1.
Thanks again to Chief Bob and the folks at the City of Langford.
