Woke early this morning to the wind and an overcast day so rolled over and gave Nick a cuddle. Next thing Katharine tapped me on the shoulder and dragged me out for a walk!! We walked the town beach, not the prettiest as it's full of seaweed but lovely to watch the dogs playing and the horses being exercised. We bought Nick the paper on the way home and got back in time to hear the coffee brewing - the best purchase we ever made was the Nespresso Essenza machine (then the caravan and then the boys.....). Nick was settled with the paper so I got stuck doing the breakfast marathon - I won't make that mistake again - and that lead to a complete clean of the van (fantastic at 15 minutes max). We headed into town and Jonny and Katharine spent the last of their money on a skateboard each as both were very jealous of Matty's, and Anna got a scooter so hopefully she will not need to be carried every 5 minutes. Then we hit the skate park for a practice - hilarious, I think this will be a phase for 2 out of 3! Next it was Woolworths to stock up on food for the Nullabor, with the kids hating our new budget shopping. Home for lunch and a chill, where Anna made friends with a family in the park on Jonny's behalf so that he could play cricket with them - she's become the brave one, able to talk and play with anyone. After lunch we headed off to Twilight beach. I thought it would be far too cold for a swim and we would end up walking the beach-side path instead, but one look at the water and everyone (except me) wanted a swim. After half an hour in the water, we went over to the cove on the other side to get out of the wind. There were rock pools to investigate and the kids found crabs. I saw a mother duck with 8 chicks surfing the waves. At one point, a pacific gull flew down and hassled her chicks so she headed out to sea. I climbed over the rocks to follow her and by the time I had reached the top, they had swum around the rock with the waves crashing over them and climbed out to settle in a little rock pool! We took the scenic drive home, past Pink Lake; the coastline around here is beautiful. Back at the van it was time for another coffee and then a mass load of washing. The kids wanted to use their skateboards again so we went out for a walk along the beach path before dinner.

David Royston Hi Niece Katharine, glad to see you're having fun, and love Katharine's Corner - keep it going, please! We read your blog every day, and are not at all jealous - it's much better here, having to go to work/school in the dark when it's -1 degrees C! Think Tom will be very jealous of your skateboard, looks cool. Give our love to your mum and dad, the boys and Annie. Speak soon Uncle David xxx

Grandma Mulligan Hi Katharine, Poppy Jon and I miss you all very much and really love receiving news through Katharines' Corner. Sounds as though you are all having fun. Poppy Jon is very sad that his Mother died. She was a great lady and had a HUGE lolly jar!!!!!! It is very hot here - Illy is hiding under the bed and hopes I won't remember to take her on a walk!!! Grandma has been riding her bike into town to get the paper - she is very wobbly. Perhaps a skate board would be easier!! Lots of love to you all and thank you Katharine for your news.
