tokyo, Japan
We have finally arrived in Tokyo Narita after a very very very long flight. 13 hours, plus a good 2 hours delay at Heathrow (of course). Japan is immediately hot and humid, we are greeted by the biggst immigration queue you hav ever seen. We get our Japan Rail passes sortd and thn proceed to get on a non Japan Rail pass train to Asakusa ( As-sak-sa). Liz, very stressed by this point. Arrive at Asakusa station and realise how heavy my rucksack really is. Thrown into confusion whn we notce that the map to our hostel is extremely poor and doesnt seem to make any sense at all. After wandering round Japanese streets aimlessly with luggage in tow, we decided to ask for help. No good, although a kindly man appeared to know where he was going. Not the case. after following him deeper into the jungle of high rise houses and small sid streets, he asks sombody else, and it turns out that its just round the corner. Hooray! Once booked in to our dorm we collapsed and fell asleep, exhausted. Both had an interesting experience with the toilet - whatever you do, never press the buttons! Had a wander around later on , realised that the reason we were so lost is because we took the wrong bridge from the station. All is well in the end. I (liz) managed to fall asleep straight away but poor old mel has terrible jet lag. Oh dear!
