We crossed the impressive apurimac river on a solid brigde, at about 1500m, and then climbed up all the way to the camp in some isolated mini hamlet made of just a few houses. Today we started our 9 day trek to macchu pichu via choquequirao. The 4 hr drive to cachora was spectacular, as the road follows very deep canyons and we saw lots of mudslides. The hike was easy, about 17km of flat trail and then a drop of 1000m to get to our campsite over the apurimac river at chiquiska. Cuzco is a very interesting city, with beautiful colonial architecture combined with inka ruins that were used as foundations for many buildings and walls.
