Hello again, from over 4,800 miles away in Interlaken, Switzerland, hands down one of the top 3 most beautiful places I've ever seen (the other two are Cinque Terre, Italy and Lagos, Portugal). The weather is acutally warmer than we all expected. I think Germany was experiencing much lower temps than normal when we were there and we thought going to a mountain city would be much cooler, but we were delightfully surprised to find out different. We arrived yesterday around 2, got checked into Balmers hostel and then took a nice walk around the city. There are soo many activities that you can do here. Zip lines, canyon jumping, bungee jumping, skydiving, paragliding, hiking to beautiful waterfalls, the list just goes on and on.
We have met some really fun people along the way. As I type this we are hanging out with a new friends: Joe from SF, Scott from Scottland and Ana, from US but living in France, traveling around Couch Surfing (www.couchsurfing.com). We are getting ready to go white water rafting with our new found friends. US plays today at 4 so I am really hoping we can catch that game here. Starting yesterday, the World Cup is in the final week of group play and for many groups this last game is going to dictate whether they advance their group or not (top two teams of each group advance). This also means the game time schedules have changed and each group plays at the same time, so our US game will be competing for airtime with the England game.
I hope to find sometime tomorrow morning to upload more photos. unfortunately they just do NOT do justice to how beautifully breathtaking this place is. thanks for following, be sure to forward along to other family and friends I may have missed on the updates.
***Update since I wrote last. We just got back from the white water rafting and we are all on the biggest natural high from the incredible scenery. We had a great boat and Bazz our guide from New Zealand was a great mate. He has been rafting for over 10 years and he said this was the best "let out" he has ever seen. Which means at the end of the river we end up on lake breinz. I'd write more now but USA just got robbed of yet another goal and I need to focus on the game. i will write more later. gd i hate the yellow team!! (That means the refs!)
love to all. -m
