Where are those Krafty Kansans
Ola from Barcelona!! Brian and Maria here, just thought we would drop a note to say hello. We have been fairly lazy while here, taking afternoon naps, and a lot of subway trains to get where we need to go, but we have been able to squeeze in a couple of sites, mainly Gaudi buildings like the one pictured to the left. Its called Sagrata Familia and is basically a church that started construction in the 1890s and they still aren't done with it!! I think i heard that they expect another 100 years of construction and that it is only one tenth of the scale that the archetech, Gaudi intended it to be. Pretty amazing but we felt like it was a waste of money, 5 euro each to go inside, and all we saw was a bunch of scaffolding for the construction. On our admission ticket it said: "The price is going towards the construction". We found that pretty funny.
We've seen a couple other gaudi buildings, very gaudi if you will, lots of decoration and characterized as the Art Neuvo movement. Today we will try and find the Contemporary Art Museum and wander around there for a couple of hours.
We will also attempt to meet up with the others, which you would think would be fairly easy since there hostel is supposed to be two blocks from us, but after walking up and down the supposed street for an hour, we gave up. Hopefully we have the phone number of the place and will be able to leave them a message.
Tomorrow brian and I leave for Lagos!!! We are excited to layout on the beach, I am prolly more excited than brian, but if wants to be with me he must learn to love it!!
We will write more later, thanks for following!
Maria
