Where are those Krafty Kansans
Hello everyone. Brian and Maria here writing from Athens Greece. We arrived yesterday afternoon, and have already explored much of the ruins. Parthenon, the Olympic Stadium, the Acropolis, ect. ect. all built over 2000 years ago. I guess in 2003-4 they started a restoration on the entire site, so unfortunately there were construction cranes, and scaffolding everywhere, but we managed to get a few pics of the old ruins, the way they used to be before all the 19th century industrialism moved in. Tonight we will take a ferry to one of the greek islands, Corfu. We will be staying at a youth hostel which supposedly has great atmosphere. Last night we went to the sister youth hostel here in athens, Hostel Aphrodite, and watched the Portugal vs. France game. It was a good game played by both sides but unfortunately Portugal just couldnt get a goal. It ended 1-0 and the final game France vs. Italy will be on the 9th, around 2 o clock USA time i think. I trust you will all help me root Italy on to win it, as americans dont really care for the french anyway.
Other than that brian and I have just been enjoying some really fabulous food. We had plans to do grocery shopping and cook at the hotel, to save a little $$, but there is no kitchen provided (so luckily) we get to eat out. I think so far, its my favorite ethnic food, although I have to admit, we were too nervous to try the spanish food, and I eat good italian food all the time at home. So for now, Greece gets the best ethnic food award. (Although the best coffee Ive ever had was in Italy)
Well thats all for now, i tried to get brian to say something on this journal, but he is at a loss for words. We just had a big lunch and now we will rest for a bit before taking our overnight ferry to Corfu. I hope i dont get sea sick!!! I will be taking a lot of dramimine for the next 12 hours!!
Love you all
Until later
Maria and Brian.
