We arrived in Brisbane for a quick photo opportunity of the city. We then stopped for an hour or so to take a look around the city; ie give women their shopping fix! Back on the coach. A couple of hours in, we stop for a bite of lunch. We arrived in Hervey Bay at 3pm, and boarded the ferry to Fraser Island. Went for a walk with Noelle and James to watch the sunset before heading back to camp for dinner. We all headed back to our rooms to get changed for this evenings shernanigans - PJ Party! I have a few drinks then return to base to get some shuteye before the busy day tomorrow. The other people in our accommodation partied til late and kept us up thou!
Friday 4th April
Day Seven of the Connections Tour: Not much sleep as the partying continued til 4 - not us, the other guests! Have breakfast beofre going out on a 4 WD of Fraser Island, whcih included a trip to the famous white sands of Lake Mackenzie. The first stop was Stonetool Sandblow Lookout. Then 8 of us jumped on a plane to fly over the East Side of Fraser Island - unbelievable views! We stopped at Eli Creek for a spot of tea and biscuits before stopping at the Pinnacles followed by the Maheno Shipwreck. We then took a walk thru the rainforest. Jumping back on the coach, we took a short, but bumpy ride to Lake mackenzie. The sand is 98% silica sand. It looks just like snoe, so soft. Its so fine you can exfoliate and clean jewellery. This was where we had our one and only encounter with a dingo. Fraser Island is the only place in the world where you'll find "pure 100% real" dingos. We spent an hour on the beach and in the clear water of Lake Mackenzie before heading back to base. A walk up "Cardiac Hill" followed, before chilling before dinner. After dinner, one or two....ok several drinks were consumed! Myself, Debs, Nina and Geraldine were up drinking til all hours, despite the early start in the morning!
