I have been here for 2 weeks now and i just completed my first week of classes. I am taking four classes, Culture, Society and Cinema, Literature in London, Debating American Power, and Global Political Economy. I really enjoy all of my classes, specifically the political science ones. I am looking forward to being in class with people from all over the world and hear what they have to say and what their opinions are about certain issues. I think it will be a great semester.
Yesterday we went on a tour of Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament and it was amazing. The palace is so ornate and grandeur. We saw a lot of the rooms, however it was different from Windsor in that we were restricted as to how much we could see. Both the Castle and the Palace left me in awe...its different because they have castles and palaces and the royal family and its so different than the US. The lives that they lead and the places they live are just so different. The houses of Parliament where also really neat to see becasue both the House of Lords and House of Commons practice government in different ways with specific rules. We are hoping to maybe go back one day when they are in session to get an idea of the way government is run.
I have really enjoyed these past two weeks here and I have seen alot...i am becoming more familiarized with taking the tube but i still have to stop to ask for directions which is ok because this city is so large. The buildings here are so old and authentic and really bring the history of London alive. And the best thing about it so far has been the weather. For two weeks straight now we have had nothing but sun and 60s and 70s.
