We checked out of the hotel and bused to the train station. We took three train rides on this trip. The 1st was today to Talkeetna for the Princess Mt. McKinley Lodge. The 2nd was from there to the Denali Princess Lodge just outside the entrance to Denali National Park. And the 3rd was from there to Fairbanks. Each cruise line has their own cars as part of the train. Princess, Holland America, and Royal Caribbean had two cars each. There were other passenger cars...

We had some time to explore Seward before the bus trip to our hotel in Anchorage. We walked around downtown before heading back to the pier to catch the bus.

The bus trip to Anchorage passed through some beautiful country. The road went around the Tournagain Arm. It was low tide and the Arm was mostly a mud flat. Interesting but not too pretty. We checked into the hotel which was quite nice. The city itself is much like any mid size American city. We headed out to explore the city. Not really much to do so we got some dinner and headed back to the hotel.

We spend two incredible days on the ship in Glacier Bay and College Fiord. The scenery was spectacular and the weather warm and sunny. I was surprised that I thought College Fiord was even more beautiful than Glacier Bay. We spent a long time at the end of the Fiord. The sky was deep blue, the glaciers were calving and the mountains behind were gleaming white.

The most popular tour in Skagway is to take the train that goes up White Pass Canyon. Rather than take the train, we decided to join a tour that takes a van up to the top of the pass and then we biked down. It was over a 10 mile trip with only a couple of hundred yards of up hill riding. My kind of bike trip. The scenery on the trip down was spectacular.
