Wayne's & Bonnie's Travels
The highlight of our day in Juneau was a helicopter ride to a glacier where we walked on the glacier. It was a morning flight and the weather cooperated. It had been raining for several days prior but today was a beautiful sunny day. We arrived at the airport just as the helicopters were landing from the 1st flight of the day. They were 5 person helicopters and we were flying with another couple. They have one person fly up front with the pilot. The spouse of that person has to sit in the middle of the rear seat so the other couple can be at the windows. The person in the rear middle gets to ride up front on the way back. The other couple said they wanted the windows in the rear. Bonnie was a little apprehensive about sitting up front so I gladly sat there. The ride was so nice that Bonnie couldn't wait to sit up front on the way back. The flight was smooth and we quickly landed on the glacier. We were given cleats for our shoes and spent quite a while walking around. the guide took us over to a large crevasse. Would not have been good to fall in. We flew back to Juneau and had time for a little exploring before reboarding the ship.
