So my first day started in paris. I dropped my bags off at the hotel and went right over to the metro. There was a big map of main attractions so I decided to head over to the Musee D'Orsay. The line was too long so I headed over to Notre Dame. The line was not too bad at all and was moving fast. As soon as you walk in, of course there are options for guided tours, but I just went on my own and snapped some pictures. After that I headed back twards the hostel so I could get a power converter for my power chords but they did not have the kind I needed so I came back and brought my bags upstairs then headed over to the Maire District and hung out at a street market for a bit. I metroed it back to the hostel to find out where I could eat vegetarian for dinner. I headed over to the joint and it was closed, so I thought. I sat down at this cafe next to it where I saw they had La salade fromage de chèvre et grille (salad, toast, warm goat cheese) So I got it, and a tuna brikette (Tuna in this crispy filo dough) it was perfect. I was sitting on this tiny side street cafe with french people yapping and smoking everywhere. I then look to my left and the door to the vegetarian joint was Ouvrir. Maybe I will try it later. I looked in the distance and saw that the Eifell tower was not too far so I decided to walk it. I arrived and I could not Believe how big it really is. I kinda of just stood there in the middle and starred while lines and lines of people waited to get to the top and guards partrolling the premisis with machine guns. I took a cab back to my part of town and walked over to the Mulin Rouge to see it all lit up at night, it was pretty fun, that street reminds me of one of those near broadway in NY with all the peeps shows, erotic shops, and cheap hookers. This morning I got up and went down to the Biologique Farmers Market with my hostel mates where we got 3 different kinds of bread, 2 goat cheeses, grapes and pears. It was so so so good! Now I am relaxing after breakfast and having a beer.... I just got in from another great day. My hostel mate Tomek and I went over to Musee du Louvre. It was really cool, we took the metro there and ended up legit in the museum. We got out tickets and started exploring. I can not even explain how huge this place is, after we saw the Venus de Milo we were in some corridor and looked into the courtyard and relized how MASSIVE the compound was. We then headed down another what seemed like endless hall to find these building size paintings. Alas we made it to La Gioconda (the Mona Lisa). It was fascinating how many languages were being spoke around me for those few moments. Made me relize the magnitude of this one painting an old man did a long time ago. We then moved through some other rooms and saw some amazing sculptures, artifacts, and art work. Then relizing it was near 430 we headed back to the market near the hostel (no lauren, it was NOT organic) and got some stuff to make sandwhiches for a late late LATE lunch. In the evening my hostel mate Tomek, Chris and I grabbed some beers and headed out. We took the metro to the Champs Elysee and walked up and down and enjoyed the crowds. Once we reached the end we got back on the metro and headed over to the Eifell tower and sat in the grass. It was not long before some students joined us and shared out wine. One of the girls spoke english so she was translating for everyone. We sat out untill about 3am just chatting and watching the ltower in front sparkle away.
Paris, day 3
My last full day in paris was today, I was tired from the night prior so I just wanted to relax and hang out. I went back over to the Champs Elysee and checked out the worlds largest Louis Vuitton, it was pretty intense, people where everywhere just waving thier credit cards around pointing at things, fun fun! After I relaxed by some trees and and enjoyed my surroundings. After about 30 mins, I headed over to this part of town near me called Abesses. There, is the only Organic Vegetarian joint in the city it seemed. I got this amazing "salad" with lentils, cold vegetables, rice, bread, cooked mixed root vegetables and chevre. It was so DELICIOUS ! I headed back up the hill to this village Monmarte and walked over the hill to my hostel, I went to the local natural patisserie and got THE MOST AMAZING chocolate croissant of my life. I am now back in my room relaxing cuase I have an early early flight tomorrow to Milan, Italia.
Overall, I would have say that paris is amazing. Every street, building, cafe and person is just gorgeous. There is this calm among the Parisians that is easily felt as soon as you step on their soil. They know how to take thier time and enjoy life. Aur Voir !
