Moth Trap in the NZ garden

After a successful summer season moth trapping in the UK with 216 different species, I decided to try and trap while on holiday in New Zealand. The trip will be for five or six months and I will be able to use the trap in several locations throughout the islands.

Normally, it will be housed at our holiday location of Red Beach in the North Auckland area (see picture in first album). Books on New Zealand moths are few and far apart but I will be taking some of my UK books with me and there is a fairly extensive web site to refer to.

The trap I shall be using is the portable Safari Trap from a company called Insectopia, (see the pictures in the first album) their web site is http://www.insectcage.net. It has a dark light and so it will be a bit trial and error to start with.

The first trappings will be around the 18th of November so check in then.
