I always wanted to do a semester abroad, but never believed I was going until I bought my airline ticket on a student website. Everything happened so fast that I almost did not get my passport returned with my visa in time for a quick trip to Costa Rica. I wanted some sun before leaving one cold, snowy place to move to another snowy, cold, and darker place. The next purchase I made was a digital camera. I'm not sure why I didn't take advantage of it during my semester at the Hogskolan i Skovde in Sweden. I guess none of my photos had to do much with traveling and certainly nothing relating to studying. I don't know how any of my housemates managed to be productive, except maybe those who planned events such as Mr./Mrs. Xenia (One of these I like to forget about!). I expected to get better use of my camera after setting off across europe to meet up with some of the great friends I made. Instead, I found out about any problems one could have with batteries, adapters, theft, and missing parcels. Now, with my new camera, hopefully I'll do a better job of creating a travel journal... not that the memories wouldn't last forever.
